It might go up in the summer. I understand the importance of getting things done early. But he might be wondering "why now specifically". I worry that he might sense that he has them over a barrel right now with Rielly hurt & the questions about next year. I mean Holl played the most minutes last night. If I'm Muzzin I'd be thinking that I'm the best healthy D-man they got right now, so what is that worth?

He is a player in need of a contract next season and there is mutual interest so they are talking about it.

At the end of the day, I think that a good GM needs to set the price that they think something or someone is worth. Like bidding at an auction.

If I want to trade for player 'X', I value them as 'y', and that's it. If the other GM feels the player is worth more, you wish them luck in their pursuit of that acquisition price, and let it go. If they circle back to you, then you can continue the discussion.

Similarly, if I want to sign player 'A', I have to have a maximum value for them as 'b' that I'm unwilling or unable to exceed. It's probably wise not to let the other side know what 'b' is, or you end up paying that amount all the time. In the case of a player like Muzzin, we want him, but he doesn't hold the same leverage that Matthews, Marner or Nylander had.

Coleman is super underrated. Plays all situations & has some sweet highlight reel goals. That does not give you permission to use whilst twice in the same sentence tho.
